#51 Made in Graz with love
Every year, Advent arrives in Graz. For many, this is the most beautiful time of the year when Graz really dresses up. It glitters and sparkles on every corner, the city is spectacularly illuminated and especially loud and extra quiet at the same time. It’s also the time to bring glitter into your home and decorate your flat, house or castle for Christmas. This year, we’re following the trend of crafting and DIY. We’ll tell you where you can get ideas, inspiration and utensils in this logbook entry. Good luck!
DIY:
1
Kaspar Harnisch
The two shops in for craft supplies and painting utensils around the Glockenspielplatz are a must if you want to stock up on craft supplies. You'll find everything here: candles, paper, paints, glue, beads, varnish, simply everything. Plus great advice and ready-made pieces that provide inspiration. We stocked up on candles and candle holders for the Advent wreath.
2
Hirt
In this small shop right next to the Schloßberg funicular railway, there is an amazing selection of yarns, buttons and sewing and knitting accessories. They even make their own buttons from natural materials.
3
Dekor für deine Torte
DIY for beginners and yet you can still get really creative: decorating gingerbread. Everything for the gingerbread house, gingerbread tags or even decorations for Christmas biscuits can be found in the sweet little shop in the town center.
4
Lederschuster
The Lederschuster in Schmiedgasse specialises in leather and sheepskins, rivets and tools. Small leftover pieces can be used to make your own nativity scene and figures or to dress them in new clothes. And by the way, there are also fluffy house slippers so that your feet never get cold.
5
Perlenreich
Small, large, long, round, wooden, glittering, precious, rustic, painted and carved beads in every colour and shape imaginable are available at Perlenreich in Gleisdorfergasse. You can use them to make your own Christmas tree decorations and other unique decorative items.

Fabrics
Watch out! When you enter a fabric shop, it can easily happen that you get into a real pattern frenzy. Les Tissus Colbert on Kaiser Josef Platz sells high-quality fabrics. Why not sew your own cloth napkins for the Christmas table this year? The Stoffwerkstatt in Feuerbachgasse, on the other hand, specialises in textiles with children's motifs. You can easily make an Advent calendar from small patches of colourful fabric.
