Mother’s Day is coming up soon, and your mom, grandma, mother-in-law, stepmom, foster mom, or simply your chosen mom deserves a nice afternoon. Styria has countless places to visit, but a trip to the city is also highly recommended, and Graz has plenty to offer. Cozy spots surrounded by greenery, nature and culture, culinary highlights, and fun for the whole family.

motherday trip:

1
picnic lawn Eggenberg Yes, you read that right: right in front of the Old Gallery and the state rooms, nestled among peacocks and ancient giant trees, there’s a picnic lawn in the Eggenberg Palace Park. Nowhere else in Graz can you enjoy a picnic in such grandeur. If lawns aren’t really your thing, you and your mom can also make yourselves comfortable in the pavilion in the palace park and settle into a cozy armchair.
2
Lorber spring Strictly speaking, the spring is just outside Graz, but let’s not be too picky… It’s a magical place that you reach after a short walk along the Andritz Stream: the Lorber Spring. The Jakob Lorber Society maintains this site and regularly offers visitors the chance to draw water, which is said to have healing properties.
3
City Beach In the southern part of the city, you'll find the Murauen area and Graz City Beach. Here, you can enjoy cold or hot drinks, snacks, and ice cream; relax in deck chairs; go for a boat ride; or set out on a bike ride. Whether you're looking for an active or a relaxing trip, Mom is sure to enjoy it.
4
Kunstgarten Graz The Art Garden is a real hidden gem. For Mother’s Day, there are several events on the schedule, ranging from a matinee to a movie night, and in between, you can stroll through the garden and admire man-made art alongside Mother Nature’s masterpieces.
